Chef Gary Khaz Chef Gary Khaz

Gary Khaz is a self taught Chef and has been involved in restaurants and catering for over 27 years. In 1981 he purchased P.J. Deli & Grill in an affluent neighborhood of Manhattan, New York on 70th and 3rd Street. Within three years he was known as the caterer for "any event" in New York City - catering to `Wall Street, Socialites, City Officials and Fortune 500 companies'. The restaurant became a well-known hot spot for celebrities and businessmen and women who enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere.

Gary Khaz is a self taught Chef In 1984, at the age of 26, he purchased another restaurant in the Wall Street area called "On Rye". It was also hugely successful.

Even with all this, Gary decided to try some place new so he moved west, with his family, to bring his East Coast `mentality and style' to Southern California. In 1991, he opened Manhattan Deli Bar & Grill which was ranked the number one deli/restaurant in Orange County by the Orange County Register. Within five years he expanded his restaurant to include outside catering.

ZCater, his corporate brand, and Art of the Party, his social brand, have become one of the leading catering operations in Orange County serving to countless repeat clients such as Microsoft, Mercedes Benz, The Irvine Company, BMW, Deloitte, Fluor, and Allergan Pharmaceuticals to name a few.

Hesperia history:

Hesperia is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. It is located in the Mojave Desert 15 miles (24 km) north of San Bernardino. The locals refer to the surrounding area as the High Desert. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 62,582 however the city's Police Captain Lance Clark reported to the Hesperia Chamber of Commerce in May 2010 stated population was growing from 85,876 residents in 2007 to 88,184 in 2009.

Hesperia is a city situated within the Mojave Desert which is a Geomorphic Province on volcanic rock with upper soils characterized by light to dark brown silty sand. (Earth Metrics, 1989) The California Aqueduct traverses the Hesperia area. Much of the native flora of Hesperia is classified as California desert vegetation, dominated by junipers, joshua trees and sagebrush. The elevation rises from 3,200 in the north to about 4,000 feet (1,200 m) above sea level to the south. The San Andreas Fault, a major tectonic plate boundary of the Pacific and North American plates a few miles south of Hesperia in the Cajon Pass, has occasional seismic activity.

Hesperia is located at 3,191 feet (973 m) above sea level.

The Mojave River flows north through the east side of the city. The California Aqueduct splits the city down the center from north to south where it then heads underground on its way to Silverwood Lake.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 174.6 km² (67.4 mi²). 174.4 km² (67.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it (0.10%) is water.

Hesperia is the 4th largest city in the Palmdale Metropolitan Area.

Also, on the southern edge of Hesperia, where the city meets the desert by the airport, is a somewhat pronounced mesa, which the locals refer to as simply "the mesa".
